Educational Camber Tool (Macpherson)
FDF Raceshop Educational Displays exist to make suspension theory click. Each one is a working model you can pick up and move with your hands, so instead of reading about a concept or watching a simulation, you watch it happen in front of you. Sits well on a desk, a shop bench, a trailer shelf, or a classroom table.
The MacPherson strut is the most common front suspension design in the world, but managing its geometry under load can be a headache. Because the shock body itself acts as the upper suspension link, the camber curve behaves very differently than a double wishbone setup. This display gives you a functional MacPherson model to manipulate. Move the suspension through its travel and watch the needle sweep across the built-in camber gauge, showing you exactly how dynamic camber is gained—or lost—as the suspension compresses and droops.
All of it adjusts to let you experiment with different baseline geometries. You can slide and lock the length of the lower control arm, and this kit specifically includes three different sizes of shocks. Swap them out to simulate different ride heights or strut lengths, and watch firsthand how these changes drastically alter the suspension's arc and the resulting camber curve. What you walk away with is a clear picture of MacPherson kinematics, and why lowering a car on this setup often requires significant geometric correction to maintain front grip. It's a teaching aid rather than a setup tool, so it won't give you exact measurements for your own chassis. What it does is take the guesswork out of strut-based suspension and make the mechanics behind it completely obvious.
Available in Two Options:
