The Gen 6 Camaro Angle Kit: up to 70 Degrees of Angle

Our new angle kit for the Gen 6 Camaro clears up to 70 degrees of steering angle, if you've got the wheel clearance and offset to use it. It's a mild-to-medium kit on our internal scale, but the Camaro (and the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing, which shares the same front suspension) is a big, wide platform, so there's a lot of room to work with in the wheel well.

Cleetus McFarland has been running this exact geometry on his Blackwing for seven months now, driving it weekly in his own videos, and it hasn't skipped a beat. That build went up on both Cleetus's and Adam LZ's YouTube channels and pulled in millions of views combined. On the reveal and first test day at Adam LZ's shop, the car hit the 55 to 60 degree range right away on its stock wheel and offset setup, with no fender or clearance issues. Adam and Cleetus both put real laps on it that day, at times with a full car of passengers, and reported no mechanical problems and no issues with the angle kit itself. Cleetus said it drove easier than he expected for how much angle it was carrying. Push the wheel and offset setup further and this same kit has the geometry to get up to 70.

Here's what's actually different from stock:

Adjustable ackermann via shims. Ackermann geometry is one of those settings that's easy to get wrong and hard to dial in with coarse adjustments. Shimming has turned out to be the best way we've found to get fine, repeatable control over ackermann on this platform, so that's how the kit is built.

Extended, adjustable control arms. The kit adds roughly 50mm of length over the stock control arms as a baseline, and from there you can adjust plus or minus another 15mm to fine-tune the geometry for your specific setup. It's built around the factory steering knuckle, using OEM CAD data from GM, so the geometry lines up with what the factory engineers intended.

Alignment specs built for performance. We run the kit at -5 degrees of camber, which is where this platform performs best, and 7 degrees of caster, including a couple extra degrees built into the knuckle mount itself over the factory setting. Since these cars use electric power steering, the extra caster pays off in feel, the steering weights up nicely and gives you more confidence at big angle instead of feeling vague.

Fully simulated geometry. Before anything got cut, the whole kit was run through simulation to check bump steer and suspension geometry through the full range of travel, not just at ride height. That's the same process we use on all our angle kits.

If you want the full engineering walkthrough, we covered the CAD and simulation work in Simulating Cleetus McFarland's New Angle Kit, you can watch it hit the pavement in Cleetus Drifts With the First Ever Blackwing Angle Kit, and the full reveal and first test day is in World's First Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing Drift Car!.

The Gen 6 Camaro angle kit is available now at FDF Race Shop.
