DMCC Round 1 – Ste-Croix Recap

DMCC Round 1 – Ste-Croix Recap

We kicked off Round 1 of DMCC in Ste-Croix, Quebec, with a freshly refreshed engine and a car that was feeling super solid. The only curveball? The forecast. We knew Saturday was going to be wet, but Friday gave us a dry window to get dialed in.

We set up our pit in the morning and rolled into practice. Ste-Croix is no joke—it’s a high-speed track with a full-commitment fourth-gear entry. Josiah wasted no time getting comfortable and laid down a bunch of fast, clean runs. No car issues, no drama, just solid laps heading into Saturday.

Qualifying day showed up with rain, and everything changed. With the surface soaked and inconsistent pavement, it became a guessing game of grip levels. Slippery entries, mixed patches—it was a challenge. But Josiah adapted well in practice, and when it came time to lay down a qualifying run, he put up a 71. That earned us 5th place going into battles.

First up: Ricky Craig. Good friend of ours and a solid driver. Josiah threw down a clean, confident lead run. In the chase, Ricky was quick through the entry, and Josiah lost a little ground early on but reeled him back in to take the win.

Next battle was with Kevin Morin, another fast driver—and a fellow Mantis Mafia member. Kevin is known for being fast, so Josiah was ready to stay tight. In the chase, Josiah kept close on the run-up, lost a bit of ground through the bank and inner zone, but closed it right up on the final outer. Then Josiah led, but Kevin launched hard off the line and opened a bit of a gap early. He kept a tight, consistent chase and got the win, knocking us out for the weekend.

Still, we’re pumped. The car ran great, Josiah drove solid, and we’re stoked on the rest of the FDF crew—Tommy snagged 2nd, and Kevin ended up 4th. Huge weekend for the team and a great start to the season.

Time to regroup and get ready for Round 2.
