Designing and Building a Pit Cart
We’ve been talking about building a proper pit cart for a while now, and this week we finally made it happen. At drift events, especially when you’re in a hot pit or working with limited space, you can’t bring your entire trailer setup. You need just the essentials, organized and ready to move. That’s where a pit cart comes in — and we wanted ours to be the ultimate version.
The idea was to create something compact but capable, with space for tools, fluids, tires, and all the random gear that keeps a drift car running through an event. We started by laying out what we needed to bring trackside, making sure there was a place for everything so we weren’t digging through bins or running back to the trailer mid-session. From there, the design came together quickly — shelves and compartments for organization, hooks and mounts for easy access, and enough durability to survive being loaded in and out of the trailer, rolling over rough paddock ground, and generally being pushed to its limits.
The build process was part fabrication project, part puzzle-solving session. We made sure it had a strong frame and smooth-rolling wheels to handle the weight, which is why we decided to go with Kansei wheels. By the time we put it all together, it looked less like a cart and more like a mobile car frame.
Now that it’s finished, we’re confident it’ll make a huge difference at our events. Instead of wasting time looking for gear or hauling things by hand, we can grab the cart and roll everything we need right up to the car. It’s one of those upgrades that’s going to save us time, energy, and frustration — and that means more focus on racing!
