Crashing Hard at DMCC Round 4

This round of DMCC had just about everything — rain, crashes, broken parts, and some solid battles.

Practice Chaos

Practice was sketchy from the start. The track was a mix of concrete, asphalt, rubber, and puddles, which made it insanely patchy. A lot of drivers were crashing, and every lap felt like survival. We scraped the wall once but managed to keep the car in one piece. Easily one of the toughest practice sessions we’ve ever had.

Once things dried up, the car felt dialed. We dropped tire pressures up front to fix the understeer, and suddenly the grip came alive. Consistent, fast, and ready for qualifying.

Qualifying Drama

Quali was a rollercoaster. First run, the rain came back just as we lined up. So we got a sight lap, but by the time we got back to the line, it was raining even harder. The car went in to the first corner and never stopped sliding — right into the wall. Somehow we held it together and still scored a 61, but that put us way down in 15th.

Second run, we cleaned it up. No rain this time, laid down what we’d been doing in practice, and pulled a much stronger score (89). Ended up sitting 10th overall, which meant we were in the show but starting from the lower half.

Battles & Breakdown

Top 16 went smooth, and by the time we got to Top 8, we were matched against last year’s champ, Yuri. The plan was simple — clean up the lead, go hard in the chase.

But right before the battle, the clutch started slipping. In the burnout box, it went straight to limiter, and I had to hold the pedal halfway just to get a little engagement. At that point it was basically send it and pray.

We still gave it everything, but shifting without a clutch isn’t exactly ideal in competition. Ended up losing out, which stung even more because the car had been feeling great all weekend.

Looking Ahead

We’ll probably drop to second in points after this round, since Kevin or Mark will move ahead. Not the result we wanted, but that’s racing. The car’s coming back to the shop for repairs, and we’ll regroup for the next round.
